RoboTech, the eighties classic that got old geezers like me into japanese animation, is set to make a return with a new series called The Shadow Chronicles. There's not a lot of information up for it yet, but the trailer looks fairly interesting.

Turner Classic Movies dedicated the month of January to legendary anime director Hayao Miyazaki. Now Cartoon Network (which is also part of the Turner family) will also be airing Miyazaki's works.

Live Action version of Kite in the works

There's yet another anime that's being adapted to Live Action. The latest news from Variety reports that the directors for the Hollywood version of Kite have been chosen. Kite is probably the oddest choice of all the anime series being adapted to film. I think it's the first Hentai flick ever to see that kind of mainstream attention.

Air Gear Manga coming to the U.S.A!!

Del Rey Manga announced today that they will be bringing the Air Gear manga to U.S. shores. Air Gear is a Kodansha title with story and art by one of the best in the manga business, Oh! Great. If you're a skater, a blader, or a young man in dire need of fanservice you'll REALLY want to check this one out.

Gomanga.com, home of Seaven Seas Entertainment, has a number of comic series that are pretty obviously influenced by manga and anime art. Can we consider them to be manga though? Is manga just the animation style, or does a comic have to be produced in Japan to technically qualify as manga?
