Eyeshield 21 coming to the US
ViZ Media and Cartoon Network have teamed up to bring super-popular football (real football, not soccer) series Eyshield 21 to the US of A. The best of this news? It’s also going to be featured on NFLRush.com, the NFL’s kid-centric web presence. That’s right; the NFL is getting into anime folks. It’s a brave new world.
From the Eyeshield 21 US Project press release at Anime News Network:
We are pleased to announce that the Eyeshield 21 US Project has teamed up with NFLRush.com. NFLRush.com, produced by the NFL—America’s most popular sports league—is an interactive website designed for kids to have their own NFL home on the Internet. Offering young fans a unique experience with content, games, contests, daily features on NFL players, and football basics, the site also includes a special section for parents with information about NFL participatory youth programs and initiatives.
I once thought that cute girls, giant robots, and ninjas were the holy trinity of success for male-centric anime. But I was wrong. Football anime is the new hotness.
A while ago, Japanator did a review of the Eyeshield 21 game vs. Madden 2007 on the Wii Hopefully the news of the Anime coming stateside means we get the game too, ‘cuz it’s awesome. :icon_cool:
