Code Geass Dub? Meh

So Code Geass premiered on Adult Swim this weekend. I, like many fans, had some doubts about how the dub might turn out. Those doubts were warranted.

I don't really like the English adaptation so far. Too many familiar voice actors with too many familiar reactions and inflections. Some of the script tweaks seemed a little strange too.

Johnny Yong Bosch does an okay job as the lead character, Lelouch. But I think the one performance that did stand out was Yuri Lowenthal as Suzaku. I actually liked that one.

The scene that really grated my ears was the short scene at the Academy with the girls talking about Lelouch (aka Lulu). It just seemed like the actresses were trying too hard to sound like "typical" teenage girls.

Despite all that, this is still a good show worth watching. There's an episode two preview up (and thankfully it has no dialogue), watch below.

Aw, that's too bad...yeah it's disappointing when a show you like gets dubbed and the voice actors aren't great. But it might also be that it just sounds so different from teh japanese version- sometimes whatever version you see first seems "better" or more natural.
