I’m a little late on this one, but you probably haven’t heard about it anyway. Be Beautiful, America’s leading publisher of yaoi graphic novels, has announced the release of the Kizuna: Kazuma Kodaka Signature Edition DVD. The yaoi classic will now be available on a DVD chock full of goodies, including words from the creator herself.

Be Beautiful is also running a contest in tandem with the release of the DVD. Fans of Kazuma Kodaka’s work will be able to enter a contest to receive autographed original comics from this rather famous and influential yaoi mangaka.

Brokeback Mountain? Pfft. Try Kizuna.

Kizuna is one of the oldest and most well-known yaoi titles out there. It tells the story of Ranmaru and Enjoji, two young men that are “involved”. One day Ranmaru is hit by a car that was supposed to take out Enjoji (Enjoji’s dad is a yakuza, japanese gangster). Ranmaru was a rising fencing star, but the accident left him seriously wounded. Enjoji cares for his lover during his rehabilitation, but the pressure to follow in his gangster father’s footsteps is rising. To make things even more complicated, Enjoji’s younger half-brother Kei is introduced later on the story. Kei ends up falling for for Ranmaru, making for an interesting but somewhat odd love-triangle.

The DVD will be available in March and will be bundled with a foldout poster for yaoi fanboys and fangirls to gaze upon in complete adoration. You can pre-order the DVD in a variety of online stores right now!
