Variety reports that Bill Kong (producer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero), has signed on to shoot a Live-action english language version of Blood: The Last Vampire. The trend of Live Action Anime continues.

From variety:

Kong says “Blood” will likely shoot in a mix of English and other languages. Unlike most of Kong’s recent oeuvre, it will not be set up as a Chinese-qualifying co-production and will not shoot there. He is currently scouting locations in Japan, Russia and the Philippines.

I’m not a big fan of the original Blood, but the Blood+ series is better. I wonder if the live action adaptation can improve upon the original.

The big news here though is this continuing trend of Live Action anime. We’ve already seen news of Battle Angel Alita, Death Note, Dragon Ball Z, Kite, and other live action anime/manga films. Are we looking at the next big thing in international cinema?
